Summer Travels - Romance Writers Weekly - #lovechatwrite

When I finish reading a great story, I sometimes take a moment to imagine what the characters’ lives will be like in the future. So this week’s topic is a fun one for me!

Let’s talk about summer vacation! Would the characters in your most recent work rather take a solo trip or join a family reunion? And what might they discover in their travels?

My newest release is the later-in-life romantic mystery, Suspect Attraction. The main characters are Ginnie Blynde and Seth Updike. Both have suffered recent tragedies, and both have thrown themselves into the businesses they own as a way of dealing with their grief. I think they would find it hard to break that habit, so any vacations they might take would be short. Camping at a nearby provincial park or visiting Seth’s daughter who lives in another city would fit their lifestyle. Ginnie is more outgoing than Seth, so I can see her wanting to attend a family reunion, but he’s more of a solo trip guy.

Travelling is a great way to get to know someone, and since Ginnie and Seth’s relationship is so new, I am sure they would discover a lot of about each other. For example, Seth doesn’t know that Ginnie is impatient with slow traffic and hates waiting in lines, while she would be surprised to learn he doesn’t like flying and will drive hours to avoid taking a plane.
